It's because of the Premiere Night of a French independant film "let the wind blow" that I had a chance to visit the cinema L'entrepot in the 14eme district in Paris. It's a renovated old fashioned cinema firstly established by Frédéric Mitterrand in 1975...The cinema is now equipped with the standard facilites for the screening of films. The most attractive thing of the cinema is that it contains a nice restaurant and a pub area just outside the screening room which is an optimal place for music performance or film discussion. This is a typical type of cinemas that exists in Paris for the independent or foreign films. At the moment, L'entrepot is playing a tribute to Claire Denis which one of her films "Nénette et Boni" is also screening at the cinema. I did recall the time when I saw the film at the Hong Kong Film Festival in 1997...it's been really long time...

"L'Entrepôt, c'est un cinéma bien sûr, mais c'est aussi un lieu d'exposition, un bar, un restaurant, un petit jardin, une salle de concert, une salle de conférence, ou encore un endroit dédié à des lectures de poésies. Un lieu unique parce que multiple, un "lieu de cultures" au pluriel comme il se définit lui-même. L'Entrepôt a été fondé en 1975 par Frédéric Mitterrand (oui le neveu, qui en plus d'être féru d'histoire est un grand passionné de cinéma) et après une période difficile, il est de nouveau incontournable (très couru lors des "Nuit blanche").Côté cinéma, on programme principalement des films d'art et d'essai et des rétrospectives : mieux vaut se tenir au courant si l'on ne veut pas passer à côté de certaines perles rares.En bref, c'est le lieu idéal pour se faire un ciné avec des amis car, à l'inverse de l'immense majorité des cinémas, c'est un endroit clair, lumineux, aéré, ouvert vers l'extérieur..."
