Rock en Seine...(26/8)

A decade of waiting is worth a lot perhaps. It was a moment of dream-comes-true. Music is a way to gather people, right, and so here came the live of radiohead in Rock en Seine 2006...much expected as of the other 57,000 audience on the field, I witnessed the show in great content with my mobilised iron lung. The band simply had their musical world melted in silence and applause around me. Being the forwarder with releases and songs credited with all-acclaimed comments, their music is always in advance and style. Truly is it a classic group like them in our era, their live was just performed on another level, and no wonder they could play in the same chic manner for my iron lung and everything's in its right place, or 2+2=5 and Lucky. Without much consciousness to their progression in assimilation of music of years, their sound in every tune lasts as young as it was a decade ago. Karma police was magical, and paranoid android was stroked. There was no more excess except the nice atmospheric music and prolonged echoing. Without any astonishing set up on the stage, the scattered TV screens as the backdrop was much impact though. Pairing with the outstanding lighting design on the stage, the projected images from nearly 10 cameras caught the pulse of the move. There was no need for extras.
The band played 4 new songs in their yet-to-be-released album. Still catching up the beat of their previous trilogy of Warp-based albums, the element of guitar chord appears to revive, but yet, it's still the tune of their journey to electronica rock. So this is it, perhaps a once-in-my-life.

A wrap up of my Rock en Seine:
- the live performance of Beck teamed with puppet shadow, and as classic as it could be, he played loser as a start up in his session. Cool.
- The Dead 60's got stronger. There was significant improvement when they played live when compared with the gig I saw a few months before. The riot radio was much more powerful. Watch out!
- Skin...a soulful and charismatic performance.
- DJ Shadow, always the guru of dj-ing, produced an interesting night session on Day 1. The show was just a bit short and the performance was less than what I expected.
- Morrissey. Sorry, I didn't make it to meet you again...but nevermind, as you would never be alone. A miss of the Dirty Pretty Things, Phoenix, Broken Social Scene etc. too. Oops, the world lacked perfect.
- Kasabian just lost their guitarist, and well, I guess the band was not in form. The new guitarist was not in collaboration with the band I guess. Their show was quite disappointing as it lacked some vividity. Hope they can get well soon.

The Music...(18/8)

Just received an update from The Music...the band has launched a revamped website (http://www.themusic.co.uk) for their to-be-released third album. Watching the video of their new single, the low resolution video quality recalls a come-back of the misty sound of the band. Seeing the murmuring face of the vocal Rob Harvey, I feel like the band is going to produce a sound album. Frankly, their second album produced by the branded producer Brendan O'Brien magnified their rock sound but at the same time, their very nice hybrid sound mixing the electronica with indie rock performed in their debut album was too perfectly polished, which I see, is less appalling. Apparently, Rob has cut his long curly hair off, a sign of a change for their new tunes perhaps. The MV has some shooting bits of the style of Radiohead's No Surprises, and watching the face of Rob in the MV, I know that I will be much awaiting their new release.

For those around me
Don't think, don't speak
Just listen
I was once like you
Cant feel my face, anymore
The silence that surrounds me
The walls, they speak of a thousand life's stolen
Seen my life its no joke
I want you to know that i believe in the holy ghost
I don't speak words
I feel love
Kill 1 to warn 1 hundred
Everyday i get up and ask myself do i do enough to help myself
It's all about you, it's all about you
Stop
It's all about you
The black of the night don't scare me
The white's of you're eyes dont scare me
It's the things inside my head that go
It's the things inside my head that go round
They go round, they go round, yeah they go round
Heartbeat keeps me awake at night
It beats so hard i can nearly fly
Fly high without no wings
Thats what scares me, thats what scares me most
I feel love
Kill 1 to warn 1 hundred
Gotta get out whats on my mind
It hurts to keep it inside
Every thought makes me feel like running away
Like running away, like running away
You're not this side of the world
When my mind goes dark, thats when it hurts the most
I think, I dont speak
The emotion hurts me, emotion hurts me
The light travels into night
Like warm through *oxygen*
I need to rise, higher, higher, higher, higher, higher, higher
I feel love
Kill 1 to warn 1 hundred

Il y a du soliel sur la France...(17/6)

This is the ending of the film "Tout va bien" by Jean-Luc Godard and Jean-Pierre Gorin in 1972...Watching the work, there is a strong feeling of passion about the film movement in the early 70's, the sharpness of nouvelle vague and how Godard and Gorin put together the impact of socialism, the incidences of 1968 in France or in Czechoslovakia, the idea of anarchy, consumerism, chaotism or the basic question about human and the society. The first 30 minutes of the film was dramatic and spoon-feedful. The shooting angle was excellent and the colours were pop and chic. Of course, having Jane Fonda as a cast was marvellous, but I appreciate a lot the act of numerous characters in the film including Vittorio Capprioli, Jean Pignol etc. Like other Godard's film, I guess this is already a film with quite a storyline inserted with humour and inspiration. The climax of the film would be the montage in Carrefour, and I see how Radiohead and Jake Scott would be inspired with their Fake Plastic Tree afterwards. All in all, this is something we queue and we should think about. The monosexuality I perceived from the film, a he or a she, you or me, perhaps you and us, this is something I share much with the directors. Oui, en tout cas, tout va b!en, meme s'il ne fait pas mieux.

No Surprises...(25/3)

This morning I overslept for 10 minutes more, and the consequence was no surprises...Radiohead will have their live performance after 2 years this summer, and waste.co.uk announced their a few scheduled performances a few days ago. The group will play at Copenhagen in the first weekend of May followed by a few shows in Amsterdam, Blackpool, Wolverhampton, Dublin, Edinburgh and London. They will also appear in Bonnaroo, Sziget and V festival. I was thinking of visiting Sziget in Swiss, and the ticket sales began this morning at 10. Of course, the two online sale websites, Fnac and Starticket were jammed and the host servers both went down. So wasting half an hour, I simply received a frustrating sold out message. This is always the result, the band is right, there is no surprises.

Slowly Downward Library...(7/5)

a website recommended for the week. An allie of Radiohead, Stanley Donwood has been working on the graphical work for the singles and albums of the band Radiohead. Conceptual and stylish, this is a demonstration of the nowadays world with solidarity and the other side of advanced technology...enjoy, and rethink!!
