All the summer's parties...(18/7)

Paris is on fire now. Quickly flowing to the mid of July, I begin my mid-summer dream...the morning becomes a very refreshing moment to me, especially when we are offered the hot and shiny afternoon everyday. I was thinking of a big breakfast this morning, and I tried to calm myself with a peaceful mind. It was very comfortable indeed. I invited a psychedelic mood to my space this week, and it was exactly the hot and spicy summer joy like the one the Rolling Stones were having in 1971 in southern France. I played with the Velvet Underground all the night, and their songs fitted perfectly the state of heat. Some sort of natural high fever in a degree of 36 or so.

The sunshine becomes very lovely after 8pm now. Slanted and warm are the emotion it can bring to the clusters of visitors on the street. I went to the Jardin du Luxembourg last Sunday, and it was just temptingly nice. Think of a siesta under the tree, and you know that this is a summer of laid back, obviously.

Exile on Main Street...(9/1)

It's been 34 years since the Rolling Stones recorded their exile on main street. Part of the album was recorded at Keith Richards' home at Nellcôte, Villefranche-sur-mer in southern France from June to October 1971...The-sun-never-falls environment permitted a golden rock'n'roll epic of the Stones in the recording. Listening to rip this joint is like having a never ending dancing party. During the period, it was Dominique Tarle, a French photographer who shot for the band. The photos of Tarle were reviewed in a photo projection screening at Palais de Tokyo yesterday. A totally hippy world, and a wonderful funland of the Stones in Southern France. When the photos were shown with the songs of exile on main street, there was an irresistible exuberance from the audience side. Tarle's photos were precise and indicative. You can smell simply the sense of the 70's. The taste of sweat, the joy of wine, the salty breeze and the chords of guitar...everything can still be so fresh. The moment when Jagger & Richards were jamming in front of the piano was eternal. Totally moved, the first thing I did when I returned my apartment was to play again the album, and again, I felt the life of music of the Stones.
