Exile on Main Street...(9/1)

It's been 34 years since the Rolling Stones recorded their exile on main street. Part of the album was recorded at Keith Richards' home at Nellcôte, Villefranche-sur-mer in southern France from June to October 1971...The-sun-never-falls environment permitted a golden rock'n'roll epic of the Stones in the recording. Listening to rip this joint is like having a never ending dancing party. During the period, it was Dominique Tarle, a French photographer who shot for the band. The photos of Tarle were reviewed in a photo projection screening at Palais de Tokyo yesterday. A totally hippy world, and a wonderful funland of the Stones in Southern France. When the photos were shown with the songs of exile on main street, there was an irresistible exuberance from the audience side. Tarle's photos were precise and indicative. You can smell simply the sense of the 70's. The taste of sweat, the joy of wine, the salty breeze and the chords of guitar...everything can still be so fresh. The moment when Jagger & Richards were jamming in front of the piano was eternal. Totally moved, the first thing I did when I returned my apartment was to play again the album, and again, I felt the life of music of the Stones.
