The dull flame of desired cashback @ 13...(25/6)
I first watched this trailer in MK2 Bibliotheque. It was one of the best trailers I saw in the past few years...dreamy, artistic, romantic. Because of the rushing schedule, I missed the film in the last days in Paris. I missed it again in last HKIFF when I was out of town. Finally I got into Cinematique after two and a half years and watched the full version of Sean Ellis' work. The film was was not bad, but expectation usually blocked my way to see the real picture. It is the second that people see eternity. The concept reminds me the time box which people put under the soil at a specific location for a reason to go back to the one second after ages. Bjork and Antony performed the english version of Fyodor Tyutchev's work that appeared last second in Tarkovsky's stalker. Unconsecutive seconds can sometimes be re-arranged consciously to extend the broadness of people's vision and imagination. Thirteen years ago, I first wrote my script. It was a hope of transmitting the second to eternity, and now it becomes the dull flame of desire. Still dreamy, still artistic, still romantic, and dull.

L'Ignorance de nostos...(14/1)
Chapter 2 of l’ignorance written by Kundera is interesting. It is a very typical demonstration of Kundera’s literal writing. He rooted the idea of ignorance, the crux of the work. Nostos or la retour is characterized a form of artistic sensation in the Western culture. According to the logic of Kundera, nostalgia appears to be a form of ‘malade’ I would say…it is the missing link. The term nostalgia is used to be a very dramatic yet dreaming mirage idea to me. The first very impressive recognition of the word came to me via the work of Tarkovsky named ‘nostalgia’. Because we have never had a utopian land, we have the luxury to enjoy and experience ‘nostalgia’. The term itself carries a sense of a respect to the origin, or the motherland. More than an expression of an unreachable sensation of need and comfort desired, the feeling of nostalgia calls for a self-modeling process to a meaning of existence to a certain extent. Nostalgia is a good expression of existentialism I would say. Kundera cited a very true relation of the past and the future in the issue of nostalgia. I think of the same. It becomes a consensus of life, and every individual has to face it and live it. Interestingly, Kundera also quoted the story of Ulysses as a classic journey of retour and the contemplating mode of a ‘nostalgian’. One shall only feels nostalgic during a journey, a physical or a psychological journey. When a record of this mode of mental dynamism is signed on a graphpaper, the dancing wave assimilates the winding journey one is engaging. I share part of the thought of Kundera, especially when I am terminating the state of wandering in France and I share an identity of a generation of ambiguity growing up in the borrowed time at the borrowed place. We keep on searching. It is ignorance perhaps. The sorrow of Kundera is ‘to-be-ignored’, or perhaps rather 'to ignore the ignorance'. When he has to admit a consensus, he ignores. When nostalgia becomes a mixed feeling of forgiveness and ignorance, it is unstable, it is uncertain, and it is painful. My exotic adventure is materialistically a dolce vita, and this is a unique exposure of independency versus alienation. Normatively, the existence of a rootlessly sentiment choruses the nostalgia of the ideal land. Youth is one irrepressible source of nostalgia, either when we are young or when we are not young. This is the beauty of a pair of flying wings. When nostalgia resists from sentimental addiction, it is self-actualisation. But definitely, it remains a disturbance of memory before the metamorphosis is completed. Homeland would it be where that it needs a compass to control, or as Kundera said ‘verfremdungseffekt’.

Natural Beauty...(15/8)
Life is repetitive, if you think so. After a puppy journey long time ago, I went to Switzerland again recently and then I recognise that I have been so young...the country is famous for its tranquility and picturesque scenery, and lying at the heart of the Europa, the places are really a bit too dreamy. I took nearly the same route as my previous visit from France to enter Switzerland, but I made a switch of the first stop to Geneva instead of Bern. My memory about Geneva before I re-visited the city had been only the three-leg chair outside the headquarter of the United Nations. I did not understand why my previous memory of the country had been so pale and blurred, but I did enjoy this unconsciousness for fresh idea and understanding about the place. Geneva is a business centre in the western part, and it provides a very pleasant habitat for people. My general impression about the Swiss is a very peaceful and relaxed country, and it actually is. The landscape offers the Swiss an unbelievable beautiful playground of nature. The lake areas beside major cities serve as a placebo to purify the contaminated roughness of human ego and arrogance in the world. I passed by Lake Geneva, Lake Thun, Lake Brienz and Lake Luzerne, and in front of the calmness of waterground, words become useless and stupid.
I re-did the trip from Interlaken to Jungfrau, but rather than climbing up via Lauterbrunnen, I tried the path of Grindelwald this time. Claiming Top of Europe, the tourist centre on Jungfrau is actually located at 3454m above sea level, 700m below the tip of the mountain range. The mountain is indeed much below the height of Mount Kenya (5199m) I went before. A 100% journey for tourists, there is not much special at the centre of Jungfraujoch, but the stunning scenery along the hilly way was a fascinating journey. I still recalled the climax feeling when I first took the train to the top in the summer of 1998, but facing the scenery again this time, I replaced my curiosity about the world with a much deepening respect to the nature and the possibility of our world. The weather was fine throughout the trip and I took a hiking route from Kleine Scheidegg to Brandegg.
I was very much touched by the colour of 'green' in the films of Tarkovsky, and while I was walking down the mountain, I witnessed the much translation of green in nature. This is always something which can peace a mind.
Hotel management is reputed in Swiss, but that doesn't mean that all the hotels are good in the country, at least there is some variation between my expectation and my experience this time. Not sure what is going on in Korea apart from its robust recovery of economy, Korean tourists were influx everywhere in Switzerland. This is something unexpected.
