Natural Beauty...(15/8)

Life is repetitive, if you think so. After a puppy journey long time ago, I went to Switzerland again recently and then I recognise that I have been so young...the country is famous for its tranquility and picturesque scenery, and lying at the heart of the Europa, the places are really a bit too dreamy. I took nearly the same route as my previous visit from France to enter Switzerland, but I made a switch of the first stop to Geneva instead of Bern. My memory about Geneva before I re-visited the city had been only the three-leg chair outside the headquarter of the United Nations. I did not understand why my previous memory of the country had been so pale and blurred, but I did enjoy this unconsciousness for fresh idea and understanding about the place. Geneva is a business centre in the western part, and it provides a very pleasant habitat for people. My general impression about the Swiss is a very peaceful and relaxed country, and it actually is. The landscape offers the Swiss an unbelievable beautiful playground of nature. The lake areas beside major cities serve as a placebo to purify the contaminated roughness of human ego and arrogance in the world. I passed by Lake Geneva, Lake Thun, Lake Brienz and Lake Luzerne, and in front of the calmness of waterground, words become useless and stupid.
I re-did the trip from Interlaken to Jungfrau, but rather than climbing up via Lauterbrunnen, I tried the path of Grindelwald this time. Claiming Top of Europe, the tourist centre on Jungfrau is actually located at 3454m above sea level, 700m below the tip of the mountain range. The mountain is indeed much below the height of Mount Kenya (5199m) I went before. A 100% journey for tourists, there is not much special at the centre of Jungfraujoch, but the stunning scenery along the hilly way was a fascinating journey. I still recalled the climax feeling when I first took the train to the top in the summer of 1998, but facing the scenery again this time, I replaced my curiosity about the world with a much deepening respect to the nature and the possibility of our world. The weather was fine throughout the trip and I took a hiking route from Kleine Scheidegg to Brandegg.

I was very much touched by the colour of 'green' in the films of Tarkovsky, and while I was walking down the mountain, I witnessed the much translation of green in nature. This is always something which can peace a mind.
Hotel management is reputed in Swiss, but that doesn't mean that all the hotels are good in the country, at least there is some variation between my expectation and my experience this time. Not sure what is going on in Korea apart from its robust recovery of economy, Korean tourists were influx everywhere in Switzerland. This is something unexpected.

Concentration...(15/4)

Concentration can be interpreted as a state when the spirit is put into a focus of substance and one shall think of the subject matter wholeheartedly...The mind is calm and acute in a sense that the defined subject occupies the memory and the brain functioning system. A state which can perhaps be achieved via meditation. Recently, I found that the contrast of this interpretation can actually be another state of concentration when I do not, or cannot focus at all on the things in front of me but pondering without boundary. It can be an amusment and an enjoyment. Amazingly, the logic between constructive destruction and destructive construction applies. Subtle movement but drastic change. Consciousness and unconsciousness sometimes work well together, and as this moment, I simply cannot define the side of the coin of consciousness in the mental functioning process. This is an abstract idea but at the same time a very concrete feeling. Placing my eyes in front of the map, the crossroads do not intersect while the lines of the network detach. I think I find it out at last...lovely, Eureka!

Living in between dreams...(24/3)

People say that memory begins to get deteriorated after 25 years-old. Old people tend to remember things long ago rather than the recent past...Things are memorable when there have weight and meaning to a life. Retired people get used to live in the memory of their glory and unforgetable experience they had when they were young and ambitious to life. Those could be incidences that impact much to their life, and to me, this phenomenon is something reasonable and rational. It is nostalgic and reminiscent. Simply a tree or a lamp can always recall a good or bad moment. I believe the kind of memory as a means of existence. When my age goes beyond 25, I start to get aware of the saying about a gradual retard of memory function of my brain. I guess the problem, if existed, can be improved by a conscious training to have a habit to remember. If you do not get used to train up your brain to perform its function, its potential could get lost and soon you will forget things happening yesterday. In general, human's nature of adaptation to environment may be another lubricant causing a fading memory power. In modern life, people have to commence a career after graduating from school, and in this capitalist world, it is common for a person to go work in a routine manner, say an office work from nine to five. A stablised living model and pattern lets a person to get adapt to a regular life, and there is no need to remember everyday a new trap or hazard that could take one's life away like the case in the stone age (perhaps it still exists in modern life, I dare not simply draw a conclusion like this). The working mode occupies quite a large part of life in terms of number of hours and it is simply too routine that memory may become a less important part of the brain function compared with analytical or imaginative commands. I hear from time to time the white collar demanding a change of life. This is more an imaginative command than a memory one. A stablised lifestyle needs some maintenance by changes and modifications. They are impacts to life. Routine path can sometimes find its exit from dreams at night. My problem is that all the dreams I had are exotic and innovative which appears to bring me out of the circle, but a fading memory both physically and mentally hinders me from a sort of evolution to metamorphosis like those of Kafka...haha...or simply perhaps I am just dreaming now...

Aspiration...(26/6)

Everyone has one's aspiration, not necessarily lasting until this point of time, but at least once upon a time. An aspirartion can be an imagination of the projection of the self to an unknown future... This can be something fancy, or simply a wish to get a living in one's limited duration of life. From the past to the future, the same logic applies, with no exception. This aspiration, when developed, probably during a childhood or a time with dreams, is much influenced by the people and environment of the self. There is a tradition in our era of primary school study to write about our own aspirations, much like an attempt to anticipate our future and our role to the community or society, grandly speaking. This is a dream to a child, a dream that can remain only a dream perhaps. Sometimes this paths one's life and direction to the pursuit of a destinated goal, be it successful or not. Then, we have our life, and we live for the designed roadmap...

I have mine, I guess, but I have never had a clear map for myself, from the time I started to recognise that I would need one. Much activated by the surrounding environment, I feel like lacking a bit of stimulus or passion to the moon I am chasing. Something appears to have been worsen day after day. With my other works on the study of a sentimental barrier to the ages of post-25, people usually get lost. A lost that need not be tray-able again...tragic moment of deja-vu. Gosh!

So what is the next day for you and me? A sunny day or a glory day? A sad one or a routine one? Is a day seized by our own? Can we still say that we have our own 'Carpe Diem'?? Well, sad to say, sometimes we do have problems in transiting further to our Chapter N+1 of our own "One Life"! At least, I feel puzzled on my own.

A decisive move calls for a determination of win or lose, together with regrets, perhaps...

I oblige to the motif of Dynamism, or Change Management to my life. A change means a reflection to the projected time that I can think about...or experience more. Some people believe in Palm Theory to forecast their future and their palmy roadmap till their last days. I look at mine with curiosity. I doubt...what is the next crossroad I have to get it through? This is a hard question to be answered.

I encounter a moment of life and death today. A sad news. A cowardness to set back to my fading memory only. I talked to a friends weeks ago about death. Where will we go? What will we become? Are we still "alive"? Will there be some transformed us after death? Philosophers in our history used to give their answer to the query...no one can prove it live. But, the impact of a death can sometimes be fatal...not necessarily to be physical self but the ego under the deep heart, or memory.

"Hello!", can I hear myself? Where am I going? This is always the question I need to ask to ensure my existence. Gregor in Metamorphorsis did the same...

We stop when we want to stop, but sometimes when things are out of control, we got fear. This is why people are afraid of height or darkness. This is psychology too.

The world accommodates quite many successful people. These people tell others their role during their times. Some people want to change the world they think the world should go. We have leaders, we have "attempters", we have experiments ongoing everyday. When I look at the society in Hong Kong, our generation, we are mold by the environment, we are foamed by the system owners...we don't have much sense to the world. we follow, we invent in the circle but we are still a group to be addictedly loved...we need some visions, and we need not just attitude. Looking at a recent feature of the National Geographics, do feel a bit the passion of these "Emerging Explorers" (check out http://www.nationalgeographic.com/emerging/index.html). They are characters not necessarily exist only in Hollywood films or fictions...they are the life-executors spending their life in a way they determine to do. How about us?

One day, we shall die. Before we die, will we have fear? Will we regret? We doubt, but then, will we act? Can we act?

I wish you have peace and love... we have memories as always.
