Let's Dance...(9/5)

It's been such a long time since I last went for a concert. Tonight at Bataclan was a sporty one with LCD Soundsystem. Nothing much to describe in words was the direct and groovy night of dance beat music. Echoing their new album was a more subtle experimental sound of drone rhythm. Without giving a moment of break, the long-dominant cells got nerved again. Watch the band's latest MV, and the visual reinforces their belief of fun music with colours, and more colours. Music keeps alive!!

Second Coming...(21/3)

Both come on time, chk chk chk and the lcd soundsystem present their second 'official' albums recently. Both groups are my shortlist of 'high expectation' release in 2007. Tune them outtttt British music scene is still stagnant, the new album of bloc party is quite okay. Grabbing the release of the best selling groups like kaiser chiefs, snow patrol etc. ok, and that's all. The new year definitely needs some new wave...the arcade fire? air and bryan ferry are both disappointed names on the first quarter checklist. Got two wonderful late discoveries. A group called Iva Bittova & Javas recommended by a music store owner in Prague. That's awesome. Got a copy of the solo album of Lou Rhodes, the singer of Lamb, released 2 years before. It's the twin album of Dawn Smithson's...cool.

A Review on Eleni Karaindrou...(20/9)

When visiting the website of eslitebooks, the bookstore is at the moment presenting the works of Eleni Karaindrou on its music section. It gives a brief introduction of the composer and his works...His music has a sense of broadness of vision and perception, and it is exactly the kind of music Theo Angelopoulos's film is looking for. The kind of harmony of sound and vision is like the master pair of Kieskowski and Zbigniew Preisner. The difference between Karaindrou and Preisner is their varied focus to life. The former composer looks at the scope of world in a magnifying magnitude, while the latter prefers a more micro and objective viewpoint. The different approach is just shown on the films of their partnering directors. We may argue that the influence would be the other way round, meaning that the vision and the story script lead to the development of film music. Nonetheless, there is no doubt how music in film can be such influential for its role to the total experience for the audience. In the modern world, a film cannot live without the music - this is uncontroversial.

Parlez-moi d'amour...(8/8)

http://www.zirhc.com/pmda.mp3
Musique: Jean Lenoir (1930)
Interprète: Lucienne Boyer
Parlez-moi d' amour
Redites-moi des choses tendres
Votre beau discourse

Parlez-moi d' amour
Redites-moi des choses tendres
Votre beau discourse

LCD Soundsystem Live @ Elysee Monmartre...(20/4)

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah...this was a great night with the music of LCD Soundsystem......they played at Elysee Monmartre, a cozy venue with more than 1,000 spectators. Their music is what I called 'rhythm music'. You would find the beat and rtythm in their songs the skeleton and this is why you could see the 3 out of the 5-man-band played on the drum just at the same time!! James Murphy, the frontman of the band, is a pleasant vocalist with a nice and riotic voice. So it is not difficult to imagine how the atmosphere would be at their concert. Definitely, 'daft punk is playing at my house' was the first climax of the night. Their baseline was just so vibrant that shaked everyone under the stage. 'too much love' and 'give it up' were nice tunes. The band finished the tune with the tribute of drumline of the Joy Division! 'Never as tired as when i'm waking up' was one of the best songs in the evening. It carried a smell of punk funk that was the vodka for the dancefloor. All in all, 'Yeah' became the anthem for LCD Soundsystem. Simply a word of 'yeah' could unbeliveably generate the great energy from the audience.
