When I was in the Basilique Moderne at Tours, I came across the name of Victor Laloux at the presentation panels within the church...This revitalised church, giving birth by the architect and executor of the renovation project between 1902 to 1925, is a decent and proper building that appears more like a social centre than a church to me. Anyway, I guess it bears also a social function like this in the community. The Basilique consists of two parts, namely the remaining old facade of the ancient church as well as the modern new building. The dome of the new church should be the most impressive feature in this renovation exercise, but when compared to other churches in EU, it does not stand out much. Notwithstanding, the profile of Laloux is much more impressive to me. La Gare d'Orsay in Paris and Hotel de Ville of Tours are the two acclaimed works of the architect. Seeing the facade of these buildings, you would be able to get some idea of French modern fine art architecture.

Just came across a blog talking about Victor Laloux, and there are images of the old Gare d'Orsay before turning into Musee d'Orsay...
