Appleseed...(12/9)

An animation directed by Shinji Aramaki - a Gundam-like animated story about the future after a world war...Human, together with Briareos, or the cloned livelihood, reside in the utopia city named Olympus. In fact, this is a typical storyline for animation of how human projects their future world after an attentive disastrous war, but as of other major animation works, the focus of viewing Appleseed is its graphical presentation of the landscape of futuristic world together with the details of visual images and scenery. This is indeed a distinctive work, at least somewhat better than another major animated film Immortel of 2004. The animated shot of the waving sea surface beside a beach in the morning or the details of the ruined old world etc. are stunning. The arrangement and transition between shots are sharp and clean. Adding the rhythmic music of Boom Boom Satellite or Paul Oakenfold, the film provides quite an upbeat pace of actions. The only failure of the film is the use of the Matrix-style 360C camera turn at the beginning of the film when the main character fought against the rival troop. This is actually quite out-fashioned and somewhat annoying...
