OBM model from Decathlon...(5/4)

I bought 2 bikes in 2 days......
I searched in Decathlon, the sporthouse chains in France (by the way, it's one of the buyers to our HK trade fairs) for a new bike yesterday and as it's not too good a product for my use, I went to the store today to return the bike and bought another model. I admire quite a bit the technicality of the making of a bike (I recall the paintings by Konrad Klapheck who has specialised parts of his works on bicycle)and the assessory items for the bicycles. There is a tradition of DIY for consumer goods here...at least from my view being a typical consumer living in HK for ages...the consumption habit in Hong Kong is really different from that in Europe. Perhaps it's because of the wealthy status in Hong Kong with the cooperation of the customer-go-first attitude in a keen consumer market, people in Hong Kong can afford to buy most of the items in a reasonable pricing. We just consume and dump and re-consume again. Here in France, things are different. This does not really mean that the second hand market in France is very developed (to my understanding it's most astonishing in Japan). The point is I have a feeling that people consume once for long and they tend to keep the products and prefer to repair and modify the parts for longer use instead of simply sell or dump the used items. It's not just a habit but sometimes an art. When you walk around the bicycle section in Decathlon, you will see various items for users to mix and match, and this is quite amusing...of course, the price is always unbeliveably expensive. The company actually sources from the South East Asia for all parts and assessories and it carries out the compilation task in France (if you hv more precise info, feel free to write to me) with their established brand name for sales. I have chosen the Riverside 7 model as it's on sale. Well, this time the bike is of good quality, featuring 24 vitesse and shock absortion functionaity. I get back my dynamism on the road in Paris now......Allez, tour de France!
