Domaine de Souch...(3/2)

The passion of Yvonne Hégoburu is truly admirable and respectful. She is enthusiastic about her wine; she names all her millésime wines her distinguished babies. She looks energetic and elegant, and she can talk for two hours about her vintage, her taste, her biodynamic wine making process. She enjoyed her gastronomic experience in Alba tasting 16 types of truffles paired with full glasses of wine. She suggests pairing Roquefort with her sweet Jurançon. She thinks 2007 is a good year for her 11,000 bottles, and never could anyone imagine that she is 83 years old now...
The two wines tasted is the 2008 dry wine and the 2007 sweet wine of her prestigious domaine. Both are well-balanced and distinct wines with a strong acidity along with the floral and fruity sweetness (pineapple, mango, tropical fruits, vanilla...a moment of dry pineapple sweetness). Grapes of the classical mix of Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng and Courbu. Revolving with the freshness and beauty of the taste, her charismatic visage and the respectful and confident dialogue totally changed my very biased impression on Jurançon wine.
"Here in the South West of France, where the wind from Spain mingles with the fragrances of the ocean, Yvonne Hegoburu does everything within her power to ensure her grapes are happy”. (Quote of Vignerons Independants, November 2001)
