


Mike Figgis is an important experimental film-maker at present...He produced 'hotel' in 2001 and demonstrated his dogma filmology in a hotel in Venice. He is well-known with his simultaneous splitting sceneries of story-telling methodology. In this film, he put the four storylines together under the set environment and have them developed in a crossed manner. It is not bad. He did not really use a harsh approach for the audience and some of his raw digital-cam images were actually nicely captured. Making good use of the feature of his PD-100 d-cam, the pictures have unconventionally been magnified and focused while the motion and zooming fully exhibits the perspective of a director and a subjective view about the story. Indeed, Figgis is quite good at music, and the sound effect and music in the film were perfectly fitted into. From the storyline of the 'making of' documentary crew, the story was provided a 'realistic' aspect and magnified with a more thrilling element. Surprisingly, the film was featured with numerous actors and actresses. What a cast. And well, Figgis tells us that in the state of attentive coma, 'the eyes are the mirror of the soul', true and false...
